Due to the delay in testing for Police Sergeants resulting from Consent Decree between the State, Civil Service and United States Department of Justice and in fairness to those employees who are now eligible for this exam, Civil Service be extending the application filing deadline for your 2010/2011 announcement to August 21, 2012. The announcement will be available on the Civil Service Commission website effective August 1st. ( http://info.csc.state.nj.us/epoa ) A testing date has not been set.

All Police Officers (those who have 3 years of continuous permanent status as of September 30,_2012 closing date), are eligible. In accordance with NJS 11A:5-14, veterans in first class cities must have an aggregate of one year of permanent status as a police officer as of the closing date.
