Creation of the Mayor's Quality of Life Task Force

The Jersey City Police Department has partnered up with the Mayor’s Office to establish a Quality of Life (QOL) Task Force. The unit will work in conjunction with the Jersey City Departments of Housing, Commerce, Alcohol Beverage Control Unit, and Fire Inspector as well as other local, county, state and federal agencies to address police related non-emergency issues that directly impact Jersey City. Some of the duties the unit will be responsible for include, but are not limited to: investigations of establishments operating illegally, businesses in violation of local & state laws, acts of disorderly conduct, inspections of vacant dwellings that may pose a danger to the community and more. The Mayor's Task Force will also respond to locations within as well as outside of the boundaries of Jersey City to effectuate arrest for individuals wanted on outstanding warrants from this city. The unit consisting of several uniformed officers and a supervisor will work out of a centralized location and respond to complaints city-wide.
