A Continued Approach to Address Crime with High Visibility Patrols
As we move into warmer weather, Police officials have decided to increase even more police presence throughout the city consisting of both walking and vehicular patrols. This past week approximately 100 Police officers (uniformed and plainclothes) were assigned to locations throughout the city addressing issues ranging from quality of life to community complaints.
This response has been coined "High Visibility Patrols" and has shown to be effective with not only allowing regularly assigned patrol officers to be immediately available to answer calls for service but also results in numerous arrest and issuance of summons for both motor vehicle and city ordinance violations. "Since the implementation of High Visibility Patrols last year, we’ve received nothing but praise from residents and those who come to enjoy what this city has to offer. We will continue this approach, along with other initiatives to make Jersey City the safest city in New Jersey" – Chief of Police Robert Cowan
