Jersey City Police Department Welcomes Its 40th Chief of Police
On, October 7, 2014, Mayor Steven Fulop swore in Philip Zacche, a 35 year veteran of the Jersey City Police Department, as Chief of Police. "As we continue to focus on improving public safety, we know Chief Zacche will lead the department in the right direction." - Mayor Fulop. Chief Zacche, the 40th member of the JCPD to serve as Chief will lead the 900 plus men and women of the Jersey City Police Force. Director of Public Safety James Shea stated, "I look forward to working together with Chief Zacche on the issues that face the department and implementing best practices and new strategies as we continue to move the department forward." Chief Zacche was appointed to the Jersey City Police Department as a Police Officer on December 17, 1979.
